I have 14 of these in my basement 6 on one circuit and 8 on another. I have two dimmer switches one that controls 6 and one that controls 8. They are Lutron dimmers. GE states that these will work with most D-switches. Well I have tried 4 different switches now and ALL and i mean ALL of the switches BUZZ like you wouldnt believe, when the lights are dimmed. They have not been able to tell me which switches they used in their testing to establish that they "WILL WORK WITH MOST DIMMER SWITCHED". Another thing that I find quite puzzling is that if you look at the recommended use and NON recommended use. It states NOT to be used in recessed lighting application, and RIGHT BELOW it, says recessed can for recommended use, soooooooo which one is it?????
does anyone know of a dimmer switch that will work W/O buzzing like crazy, cause GE cant help evidently...

A few notes about this GE dimmable CFL that will help you to decide if it fits your needs.
- The Dimmer switch must be recently made. My dimmer switches are made by Lutron and are less than three years old. Older dimmer switches will not dim the GE CFL and will result in flickering.
- The GE CFL's need about two minutes to reach full power. I have found the best operation is to turn the on full power, wait two minutes and they dim them to the desired level. I have no problem dimming these bulbs without a flicker.
- They are expensive - I paid $38 w/tax for 4 bulbs. You will not see a return on your investment as fast as regular CFL's.
- Of the four bulbs I have installed only one one turns on immediately. The other three have a slight delay. I have gotten use to it.
- I prefer the light quality to the ones I replaced. The GE's are white and the ones I had previously had a yellow glow.
- Even though the cost is substantial, I am happy that I am using them in my home. My wife uses these lights at least 1-2 hours a day.
Bottom Line - If you are looking for a Dimmable - Recessed - CFL - Indorr Use Bulb - this is a good choice. I have taken one step closer in getting all the bulbs in my house switched to CFL's.

No where on the packaging does this bulb say it is NOT suitable for 'recessed' lighting (can lights)...I used it in a kitchen 'can' light and it is 'yellow' (totally changes the color of the counters/cabinets/floors, etc); dimming is a joke (IMHO)...and there's no 'light' - a candle would do a better job. What a waste of $13.!!!
