I too purchased these at Costco a couple years back and have mixed results. Some I've replaced within 60 days (I started writing the dates I install and when they stop working) and others are still chugging along. They did honor my request to replace a handful of them, but I won't buy again (I'm still stuck with stock). Other CFL brands I've purchased live up to the extended life quality.
These were at a bargain price and I can live with the slow to light up characteristics. I do know that other CFL's are closer to "instant on" and not much more expensive, but they didn't have Reflector styles at the time of my purchase.

These bulbs burned out prematurely. I could be my fault since they were on a dimmable circuit, nevertheless if that is so there should be clearly posted limitations of this product.

When moving into my newly constructed home in late 2007, I installed 48 of these Par style CFLs. I was sold on the total cost package; service life times energy savings minus purchase price. I am so far removed from the expected results at this point with the many premature bulb failures, considering the motivation for choosing conservation was that it was going to be an affordable and financially logical decision - I'm sure that I speak for all of us when I say that being energy conscious and proactive is preempted by financial realities. And No, they were not installed outside, in wet locations or on dimmer circuits.
I believe a fraud has been perpetrated on us, the consumer; and I sincerely encourage some DA out there who wants to make a career/political move to open up an investigation/inquiry. It would be the right thing to do, and I for one would not be interested in any recompense, other than a huge judgement against FEIT (Conserv-Energy)... who have for many long years now produced an inferior- and often dangerous - product.
Speaking of which, I did not see any reports on this forum concerning fires with this bulb, unlike the 13 W spiral manufactured by FEIT and marketed through Costco... Is this because there have been none? I'd like to hear from anyone with that experience on this product, as it would motivate me to retire the remaining bulbs I have installed.

I moved into a new home (older home I purchased). I replaced every light with the Cosco's Earth Friemdly (Feit Electric) lights. I guess I am saving some energy, but the burn out rate is far to high for these bulbs and I am spending more money on replacement bulbs! The box says "Lasts 10 times longer"? If they did last ten times longer I would keep buying them. But I have replaced 3 in the last 45 days. Two in locations that the lights are not used daily, but maybe for a few minutes several times a week? What's up with these lights? Maybe they have to be on continuoisly to last longer? Makes no sense to me.

50% are burning out in less than 6 months with about 3 hours of daily use. I have been calling the 800 number on the bottom of the box and they said they are sending replacements. I haven't seen them yet, but hope they honor the warranty.

Purchased 2 4-packs from Costco to replace 6 incandescent lamps in my recessed kitchen lights. After replacing 4 bulbs with the CFL I opened my next 4 pack but not to replace one of the last 2 incandescent lamps rather one of the 4 CFLs. I started to write a date on my CFL and have since reverted back to the significantly lower cost incandescent lamps. On average they lasted less than 1 year once I took notice by writing dates on the bulbs. I wonder if they are just not suited for recessed lights? I noticed that the lamps I replaced are warn when I change them. That sounds like energy use without giving any light. I'll need to do more research before my next CFL purchase.

I bought this light so that I could depend on the energy saved as well as rely on the years of service I would get. I have been very disappointed in the life of the bulbs. I had the bulbs in my kitchen and they have lasted about 9 months. I can't find my receipt so I can't return them. If this is your promise of a bulb that lasts, it is a false promise. false

Can I purchase uncovered CFLs for replacement of burnt out ones?
the diffuser cover is still good and re-useable. greener and less landfill.
I think that was the intent when I could unscrew it.

I bought my four pack from Home Depot. I marked on them 02/06 x 2 yr warranty and sure enough two of four went out 04/08. The other two are stil working(.....but now that I have said that.....) We laughed when replacing them and seeing the notation. We used them in our kitchen, so they had many hours use in those two years. I also thought the threaded cover would be great but cant find replacement bulbs, either, and that is very disappointing. Otherwise, if I could have found proper replacements, I would have used them.

I was completely disappointed with the Conserve-Energy BPCE15R30H/4 lights. In fact, it is a mystery to me why a product that is advertised for “Rated life 8000 hours”, would consistently fail within 8-80 hours? As an engineer, I am interested in the answer to this question?
I bought about 40 lights from Costco for my newly finished basement. I installed them in the new recessed can light fixtures. They worked nice for a month (good lighting and energy efficient). However, after couple months they started burning out one by one. A year later I had lost about 80 % of them – keep in mind this is a lightly used part of the house. I still have about 4 working and anticipate that I would loose them soon. I saved most of them. I thought the company who made them or the consumer protection agency would like to study them someday given the “8000 hour claim”? Was this a typo or something? Maybe it was meant to be 80 hours?

Bought a 4 pack of these bulbs at Home Depot. After 1 yr 2 of them have gone out already. How do I get someone to send me replacements? If this is the way they are going to last, I will not buy any more. That is just TOOO EXPENSIVE to help save energy. I am certain I have not gotten enough savings on my electric bill to pay for these bulbs!! VERY DISAPPOINTING!!!

I have bought FEIT bulk-packaged incandescents for many years from Home Depot. They come in a plain, cardboard box with a simple sticker on the side. No frills. They seem to be about the same as low-end GE or Sylvania, etc. incandescents, and are cheaper when bought by the box.
Then I saw these at Costco, and, true to form, the four-pack is cheaper than comparable products at other stores. I have the same problem everyone has, namely the slow time to full brightness. I also have some that come on originally in kind of a purplish hue. Strange. I find the life to be very unpredictable. They either tend to last for a couple of years, or go out in a few days (or less). I would say the technology is just not there yet, or this company sucks. Not sure which. But here's my question. I discovered that this exact part number allows for the inside spiral-type CFL to be unscrewed from the PAR30 reflector/housing. A neat idea, which would make for a cheaper replacement of the burned-out bulb. That's if I could find the replacement spirals. They have to be special, since they are threaded into the reflector. Anyone know where to buy them??

It takes a good 45 to 60 seconds, maybe more, before the lights are at their maximum light emitting level. With that said they are FAR BRIGHTER than the 60 watt bulbs I removed from all my ceiling fixtures. These 15 watt lights produce an enormous amount of light, it's GREAT. However if your expecting an "instant on" forget about it. These lights have a long warm up time, as mentioned previously. I've replaced 15 of my ceiling fixtures with these lights about 2 years ago and have not had a problem with any of them. Until just a few days ago when one in my kitchen ceiling wouldn't turn on anymore. What's the deal with that? I thought these lights were supposed to last for YEARS AND YEARS? Here it's only about 2 years into installing them and one blew out already. Fortunately I had one left over so didn't need to return anything. But now if another one goes out I will have no left overs to replace them with.....and my wife threw out all the receipts and the packaging too. Hmmm......these are a lot more expensive than regular bulbs too. I did buy them at Costco though, under the "Conserv-Energy" brand name. When I typed in the product number from the defective bulb my browser brought me to this web site. (BPCE15R30H/4) As for the quality of the light emitted from the bulbs: GREAT...after the warm up period. As for the quality of the light bulb: Well, I had one bulb go out after only about 1-1/2 to 2 years even though the packaging says something like 5 to 7 years. None of them makes any noise though, they are very silent. They also DO NOT flicker at all in the ceiling fixtures I installed them all into. I did, however, install some into my master bathroom ceiling fixtures. In the early morning and the evening I have to wait for them to warm up before I can see well enough to brush my teeth, shave, etc. So again, expect a delay before the lights are completely turned on. Same goes for my kitchen. I have to wait a bit before I can start cooking at night....but once the lights are at full capacity holy cow, they are BRIGHT!! They beat the old 60 watt bulbs hands down, not even a competition. But...those old 60 watt bulbs didn't have a warm up period. Unfortunately my wife threw them all out with the packaging thinking that we'd never need replacements. Boy am I regretting THAT decision of hers. Yes, I'd buy these lights again in the future to replace any more that go bad....if they go bad....assuming the price was right. The majority I bought had a manufacturers instant rebate at the register. So if they are not on sale in the future I probably would not buy them again. A little expensive just for 4 bulbs. Here in San Diego I think the regular price was about $12 to $13 in early 2006.

CFL's illuminate slowly, but do give decent quality light and consume less power. We only purchase CFL's at Costco. Service life is only 200 - 400 hrs, however Costco replaces or refunds for defective CFL's without hesitation. The Chinese manufacturer continues to ship a poor product, but will eventually get it right. Until that time, we return CFL's to Costco in 6 unit lots every month or so. We'll get the warrantied 7 yr life out of these lamps, and Costco is stuck with disposing of the defective units. We've also experienced poorly formed bas threads (about 1 of 48 lamps). BTW, we did try CFL's from Home Depot, but service life was similarly poor. And try getting a refund from Home Depot for defective lamps!

I purchased a four pack of these bulbs at Costco, around 6-8 months ago. After I installed them in my track lighting in my kitchen (very high ceiling- have to use a ten foot step ladder to reach- eight fixtures), one bulb blew within two days. I had to bring all four bulbs back to Costco in order for them to give me a new package. Well today another bulb blew and I do not want to bring all four back to Costco for another replacement. I am very energy conscious and use energy efficient CFL's in many of our light fixtures. Your product is the first CFL flood light I have tried.

I bought 8 bulbs at Costco about 30 days ago. All continue to work but take over 60 seconds to come to full brightness. Kind of a shock when your used to instant on lighting. I don't remember reading any warning about this issue on the package. I wonder what else the consumer is not told about these bulbs. I plan to keep track of the reciept and take them back to Costco when they fail or start to take longer than 120 seconds to light up. I would not recommend this brand of this model bulb to anyone.

Bought 16 of these at Costco to replace all my hot energy consuming tungsten spots all over my abode less then four months ago. Today 10/17/07, the one directly over my work space died! I thought these things were supposed to last 5 to 7 years. I always turn off the lights in any room I exit, so these bulbs are not in constant use and the one that burned out, probably not more than 5 hours a day max. What a bummer. I am going to Costco with the defective bulb. Now I have to wonder if I should just take them all back due to an engineering defect.

Nothing but trouble with Feit electric and their bulbs. They come under various lales so be careful. Bright Effects, Conserv-Energy to name 2 I know of. I have had these bulbs for 6 months and keep them on for maybe 6 hours a day. I have had 11 of them go bad and counting. I have had others Phillips and they last for years. I have had 3 on continuously for the past 1.5 years and have not yet had to replace them.

I bought these at Costco and have been extremely happy with them. I've also put them in about 15 houses and apartments of family and friends and have received good feedback. They provide excellent amounts of light, don't buzz, and you can't really tell they're CFLs. They can take about 25 seconds to come on to full brightness at times and I mistakenly put some into my dad's track lights with dimmers and they had burnt out within a month or so. But the properly installed ones are a year in and still going strong!

I put the bulb in ceiling about a year ago. It has not been used much but it would not light recently. Yesterday, I was going to replace it, but as soon as I touched the bulb the glass fell off into pieces over me and the floor. I am quite upset over the quality and harm it can do.

I bought these at Costco, and they all flicker - back they go! I have had no problems with other models of FEIT bulbs, but the four pack of this model are duds.
