As others have described, one of these bulbs burned out, almost caught fire and filled the house with a burning electric/plastic smell. On top, since we've been using these, many other bulbs have burned out quickly lasting no longer than regular bulbs.
I'm removing all these stupid curly-cue bulbs and going back to regular bulbs. The curly-cues are expensive, unreliable and apparently dangerous. On top of that they contain mercury and no one I know bothers to recycle them. They just throw them in the trash and the mercury apparently ends up in the garbage dump. You've got to wonder how that's going to work out with thousands of people doing this. |
