| This bulb burned out prematurely. It smelled terrible, and produced a black gooey residue at the base of where one of the tubes enters the body. It appears as though the tube is cracked. This malp was used in a bathroom light fixture above the sink, along with another one (which still works). This bulb did not even come close to the anticipated life expectancy that was advertised. TThe base says that this bulb contains mercury. Considering that the glass is cracked, do we now have amercury hazard in addition to a potential fire hazard. I have never seen such smoke of smelled suuch a foul electric odir. I really beleive that these bulbs are a hazard, expecially judging from what I have read about other people's experiences with this exact model. Who makes them, and who's checking to be sure they're safe? They'e UL listed, which makes my confidence in that organization shakey too! |
